Updated Scenes from Rune

Earlier this week we shared our first character and enemy screenshots with you on The Rune Recap. Unfortunately, we experienced some technical difficulties that impacted the delivery of the images. Luckily, our friends at Rolling Stone helped us out and debuted three mint-condition screenshots and a new interview with Project Director Chris Rhinehart. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, you can head over to their site and read the full article.

Between the article and The Rune Recap, Chris shared a number of new insights into the game. We know that you’re anxious for gameplay footage and will have that for you in early 2018, but here are some updates to tide you over.

Ship-to-ship combat? Yes, please. The treacherous waters of Rune are made even more dangerous with combat lurking around every corner. Take on your “friends” as you sail to attack a base in PvP gameplay, or hop on a ship with your teammates and work together to take down some of Ragnarok’s most dangerous enemies.

We give you a sample of our characters! There’s quite a bit of character customization coming your way in Rune, including god-specific weapons and armor sets. As Chris mentions in The Rune Recap, we realize horned helmets aren’t historically accurate but you can have them if you want them…or you can have a helmet with deer antlers….or a helmet with no antlers. It’s your choice.

Behold, our giant! A truly massive site, giants are some of the meanest enemies you’ll encounter during Ragnarok. These gargantuan creatures won’t stop until they smash through all Nine Realms. Defeating them will require specialized combat strategies, weapons, and (potentially) rune powers. When possible, we recommend using a fire sword because, come on, it’s a fire sword.

Early next year we’ll provide you with action shots and gameplay footage. Head over to the forums and let us know what questions you have for our development team. We have one more Rune Recap in the works for this year and we’d love to get some of your questions answered.

Don’t forget, we’re moving into Closed Beta in early 2018. Sign up for an account on our website to make sure you’re in the running for a first-round beta key!

Note: Prior to February 28, 2018, Rune was titled Rune: Ragnarok
